LIFESTYLE: Hot Holidays

It’s always a treat to get a peek at what’s going to be available in the next few months before anyone else.  And that’s exactly what happened at the latest holiday preview – December is coming.  While it’s usually good to look at items from the top down, this time it’s a better idea to move from the bottom up.

To start, there’s an – apparent – issue with stockings and Bootights is there to resolve it.  Basically a tight with a sock attached at the end, it keeps feet warm while alleviating the occasional rip and tear associated with wearing leggings in boots.  MizMooz offers a range of styles of shoes and boots for fall.  Each shoe is finished by hand, resulting in variations of colour and texture (and super high heels are not an option for winter).  For a more comfortable option, Ortha Heel has specially designed footwear for those requiring a little more support.  For no support – just comfort – there are Flipsters; fold up slippers to throw on when the heels come off.

Melie Bianco is a line of synthetic, vegan friendly line of handbags.  Style thought:  Ditch the black and go with a warm shade of berry or spice for the season.  The Drake General Store offers everything online.  Hoser-chic toques?  They have them.  Comfy pajamas from Shared Clothing?   Those are available.  How about maple syrup-scented candles?  Waiting to be lit.  And Mini Mioche tries to keep a small carbon footprint by locally producing organic cotton pieces for newborns to children up to 6 years of age.  Is there anything cuter than a tiny hoodie on a baby?

But

it’s not all about the clothes.  To keep looking good throughout the upcoming season – both inside and out – there’s Consonant Skincare.  The Help Some-Body Soap donates every penny of each bar to the Canadian Breast Cancer Support Fund, while their Ageless Beauty Holiday Pack has a face wash and cream, eye cream, their new HydrExtreme and a gift card.  Just put a bow on it.

When it comes to all things lifestyle, there’s no better place than PC Home and Joe Fresh.  The place where style meets smart pricing, there was a lot to want (budget pending).  Whether it’s dinnerware or décor pieces, PC Home had it all.  And Joe Fresh also has great stocking stuffers via their Jogi (yoga), J+ (tech) Jet/Set/Go (travel) lines.  Where to find them?  Down the aisle from the Colombian coffee beans.

And to keep everyone nourished is catering by Toben Food by Design.  The wild mushroom risotto cakes practically melted once they hit the tongue and their “best bite brownies” were hard to keep from eating just one.  It makes waiting for the holidays so much more enticing.
