LIFESTYLE: A Night of Glitter and Light with Fashion Cares
10th September 2012The Sony Centre for the Performing Arts was buzzing with energy last night. The gowns were dazzling and heels were out in full effect. The bars were so busy, they even ran out of wine glasses (but luckily, not the wine).
Last night was the 25th annual Fashion Cares Gala at the Sony Centre for the Performing Arts. Our friends at Barefoot Wines , the wine sponsor at the event, sent us two tickets to this amazing cause – thanks Barefoot!
After 25 years Fashion Cares, an annual event that supports of AIDS Committee of Toronto (ACT) and Elton John AIDS Foundation as well as raises awareness for HIV/AIDs, takes its final bow. The Sony Centre for the Performing Arts erupted with energy as musical talent took the stage.
Hosts Linda Evangelista and the (adorable) d
esigner duo Dean and Dan Caten introduced the many fabulous acts of the night. Opening the show was a performance by the Scissor Sisters followed by a Canadian medley of sorts including Matt Dusk, Molly Johnson, Jully Black, Jarvis Church, Divine Brown, Billy Newton Davis, Kreesha Turner and Chantal Kreviazuk. Sky Ferreira did a calm number before Janelle Monae rocked the house. And the finale performance was not one to be missed. The crowd roared when Sir Elton John took the stage. He may have lost his voice and cancelled a concert days prior, but nothing was preventing him from performing at Fashion Cares, and that he did.
For its 25th and final year, Fashion Cares went out with a bang.
We want to send a HUGE thank you to Barefoot Wines for sending us there and sponsoring such an amazing event. To show them some love, check out Barefoot’s Facebook. For more photos, please go to Style Empire’s Facebook page.
