LIFESTYLE: BATTLE PINK for Rethink Breast Cancer – PLEASE VOTE!

2nd October 2012

It was so exciting to be selected for this challenge. I wasn’t sure what I agreed to but I figured, if it’s for charity, you can’t really go wrong. For BATTLE PINK, bloggers, writers, on-air talent and stylists were called on to get creative with limited edition PINK products, where proceeds support Rethink Breast Cancer. I was given a light blue denim Harley Davidson vest for BATTLE PINK, I hummed and hawed for quite some time and stared at the vest hoping for some ideas and inspirations and then it came to me. *Insert light bulb above head here*.

I decided to finger paint.

Most of us finger painted as kids (and apparently some of us still do). I chose this method because it isn’t foreign, much like breast cancer, where 1 in 9 Canadian women will be affected in their lifetime. If you asked me to grab a paintbrush and create a work of art, I’d say “I’m not that talented, I can’t paint”, but take away the paintbrush and it’s something anyone can do. Kind of like this. Whether you’re donating, buying pink products and shopping for the cure, wearing a pink ribbon, Running for the Cure or just showing moral support, you’re playing a part in creating a future without Breast Cancer.

So finger paint with me, or better yet, vote for me and Style Empire in BATTLE PINK. Every vote counts for $1 (thanks to Penguin Books Canada), which will be donated to Rethink Breast Cancer.
