It’s that time of year again, when the runway is ready, the pieces are set and the fashion kids come out to play. On day 1 of Toronto Fashion Week Narces brought detailing to the runway in a whole new way, from beadwork to embellishments and high-low to floor length these styles were absolutely stunning piece after piece.
When fall and winter hits us with their colder days and nights more people go right into hibernation, whether they stay in and skip the party or they simply compromise their attire for a more comfortable and weather appropriate look. Narces covered all those grounds in her Fall Winter 2016 collection, the collection brought the styles of low back and plunge front and the practicality of length and full sleeves into a collection that can be warn on even the coldest of nights.
Detail and structure are always a big part Narces and the Fall Winter 2016 Collection shows this exactly with wearable pieces that can be spotted at any gala, holiday soirée or wedding.

For most people, one of the top New Year’s resolutions is to lose weight and/or get in shape. Unfortunately, come mid-February many have eased off their fitness goals. So what’s the key to staying on track and in-shape? For us, it’s easy, we find something we like and stick to it.
Many New Year’s resolutions seem like a great idea but when they’re too demanding, they become unrealistic. When they’re unrealistic, we get frustrated and give up. I prefer to stick to one main goal: stay active. Although it may seem straightforward enough, it’s easier said than done. Staying active is also easier when you find something you like, whether it’s a jog or a spin class. Recently for me, it’s been about Pure Barre, a newly opened barre studio in downtown Toronto (with many other locations all around the US).
What I love about Pure Barre is the rhythm. With high energy and upbeat music, the workout feels more like a dance session rather than a class at the studio. The studio is a good size with classes that are small enough for personalized instruction and adjustments for proper form. Although props are encouraged (a Pure Barre ball, weights and stretching bands), you can adjust the workout to your own level or difficulty with or without them. Combining the techniques of ballet barre, yoga and pilates, Pure Barre builds strength, flexibility and also helps stretch and tone through micro-movements. Essentially, it’s a full body work out.
Pure Barre Toronto officially opens in a matter of days and if you’ve fallen off the fitness bandwagon, now is the time to jump back on. Stay active and bounce back into shape with Pure Barre, trust us, your body will thank you for it. For more information on Pure Barre or their schedule go to, purebarre.com.

Have you ever wanted to go skydiving but often wondered why jump out of a perfectly good air plane, or wished you could practice just one time before the big jump, or maybe you’ve never even wanted to jump but you’ve always wondered what the feeling of pure freedom felt like. Well, being an adrenaline junkie like myself, I’ve wanted all of the above which brought along my most recent hobby and new 2016 addiction, indoor skydiving.
The experience begins with a short class where you will learn a few best practices to remember during your flight. With the dome being quite loud it’s hard to follow direction which is why you will be taught a few basic sign language symbols to be able to adjust your movements to get the best out of your flight. After you’ve learnt to keep your chin up, hips forward and most importantly to stay relaxed you’ll be ready to dive in and soar away.
Once you’ve experienced indoor skydiving and have mastered a few basic moves you are ready to move onto the next step, this is where you choose to jump out of and air plane or continue to learn indoor skills that can make your experience and flights worth watching. Try flipping, swirling and soaring through the air by signing up for classes where you will learn all the skills needed to fly like a pro.
Get ready to defy the law of gravity and take the next flight out to enjoying your newest hobby and crushing all of your fears of being off solid ground.

During the winter, holiday pop-ups appear throughout the city. Now in its second year, Toronto Market Co.’s Union Station Holiday Market showcases unique merchandise from 30+ specialty retail vendors, artisans, designers, food merchants and cultural institutions.
From November 30 to December 20, visitors will be able to embrace the holiday spirit while doing a little shopping. What’s on offer? The food and drink (Desmond and Beatrice Bakeshop, ChocoMe), arts and crafts (Sea + Lake Paper Co., Lorie Slater photography & design), and fashion and beauty (Lavami Soap, Retro Festive) options will leave people with something to wish for under the tree on the 25th of December.
And since admittance is free, it’s just another incentive to drop by for a quick peek. Eat, shop and be merry!
