If we compare World Mastercard Toronto Fashion Week to Christmas (bear with me), the shOws would be like an advent calendar. Little delicious morsels that are just enough to get you excited for the big event that’s on the horizon. This year, day one of the shOws at the Andrew Richard Designs Building was just as tasty as we expected. We got an up close look at what the duo behind Bellavance, and Toronto’s own Calla, had in store for Spring 2014.
To compliment the work of the young team that makes up Bellavance, (Nolan Bellavance and Ava Hama) COVERGIRL’s own Amélie Ducharme used the Smoky ShadowBlast in Citrus Flair ($8.99) to create a warm shimmer on the outter edges of the eye. Flamed Out Shadow Pen ($9.99) offset the warmer tones with a crystalline sparkle, used to line the inner eye and tear ducts. Most of the models rocked a laid-back, side swept hairstyle with simple, straight parts and a bit of toussled wave. The look was acheived by Pantene Pro-V Consulting Stylist, Justin German, using their Anti-Humidity Hairspray ($8.99) and a root gel to give the hair a bit of spring. The final result was minimalist and playful, much like the line debuted. Next up, Calla.
Calla’s line was such fun. Bright with interesting patterns and combinations of materials, it makes perfect sense that the hair and makeup alongside it was equally as eclectic. Models donned minimal makeup again, with lots of campy additions like fishtail braids and electric shades of material woven into the hair. It was smart to let the models be fresh-faced and have the crazy coiffure lead our imaginations. Day one of the shOws was a smooth success as usual, and a great teaser for the fashion hailstorm that will soon be upon us.

We took a step behind-the-scenes to check out what goes into creating the final looks. Pantene Pro-V Consulting Stylist, Justine German and COVERGIRL Makeup Pro, Greg Wencel kicked off day one of The shOws with beauty tips and tricks completing the lived in look of Comrags.
The Comrags hair was all about looking lived in and full of texture. Justin German tells us his tips and tricks to creating quick and easy texture by twisting the hair and flat ironing it to create a softer curl. The relaxed look consisted of a lot of texturing, a great tip is to start this look off by using dry shampoo to
help manage the hair when back brushing it into the pinned up sections. The front of the look was loosely pulled back by twisting strands and pinning them, fashioning the lived and slept in look. It was a great way to complement the rugged and feminine look without looking too done up.
The Comrags makeup created a healthy and organic look that was both natural and youthful with soft supple skin and a fresh flush cheek, leaving the face looking highlighted and refined. The look started with an all over; Olay Total Effects Tone Correcting Eye Treatment ($32.99) perfect for gorgeous supple looking skin. The fresh flush cheek and refined features were brought out using COVERGIRL Cheekers Blush in Classic Pink ($5.99) flush across the cheek bone and COVERGIRL Cheekers Bronker in Golden Tan ($5.99) perfect for highlighting the t-zone and finishing off the facial features with a touch of bronze. Using powder over your cream is a great way to get a softer look with more vivid wetness leaving the skin looking healthy on the runway. The lip colour was a two tone blend of COVERGIRL Lip Prefection Lipstick in Enamor and Euphoria ($10.99). The blend created depth in the centre of the lip for a black and rose look. This strong lip is the perfect contrast with the softly shimmered eyes using COVERGIRL Shadow in Shimmering Sands ($4.99) and boyish brow. Comrags FW2013 collection is all about looking comfortable and effortless from head to toe with a touch of femininity which was brought out simply and flawlessly in the makeup and hair.

p>The rebel samurai look was the talk of the night at Jean-Pierre Braganza’s Fall Winter 2013 show on day one of the shOws. From the duo styled hair to the deviously dark eye, it was not only the collection that caught the crowds attention. Dramatic beauty was definitely on the runway with hair by Pantene Pro-V Consulting Stylist, Justin German and makeup by COVERGIRL Makeup Pro, Greg Wencel. This backstage coverage will help you recreate the rebellious look of Jean-Pierre Braganza.
The Jean-Pierre Braganza hair was Asian and samurai inspired complimenting the collection. This simple hair style was all about keeping it flat to the face with a centre part and having the ends flow as each model hit the runway. The samurai inspired bun was gathered at the crown into a triangle section and tied into a bun keeping the dual look of having the front looking flat and centred with the bun being spotted from the back and side. Quick tip for keeping this look sleek is Pantene Pro-V Stylers Texturizing Sculpting Wax ($8.99). It’s the perfect weapon to grease up this rebel look.
The makeup combined the samurai inspiration with Braganza’s signature feline trend creating a super graphic eye from the inside displaying a
strong wing effect using COVERGIRL LiquilineBlast Eye Liner in Black Fire ($10.99). This full eye starts at the brow creating depth with a hint of shimmer using COVERGIRL Eye Enhancers Shadow Shimmer Onyx ($4.99) and adding a dramatic look that is paired perfectly with a soft touch of blush and a natural lip. Jean-Pierre Braganza’s samurai inspiration was a seamless way of releasing his rebellious side onto the runway tying together a playful collection with dramatic beauty.
