#SESTYLE: Fall into Sunday Funday

After the past long and extremely hot summer we’ve had it’s nice to have a few cooler days lined up. Fall is a season filled with changes and colours for both the weather and our wardrobe. One thing I love about fall is how quickly and easily we can swap our sandals for booties and florals for plaid.

When planning your weekend wardrobe be sure to think comfy and cozy, especially if your planning on simply lounging around. When selecting your comfy weekend pieces remember not to limit yourself to sweats and hoodies, try picking out clothes that you can look good in while feeling comfy, even if your planning on spending your weekend outdoors.

Tshirt, $10, Joe Fresh // Plaid Shirt, $15, Hudson’s Bay // Sunglasses, $145, Ray Bans // Colour Blur Lip Stick, $10, Maybelline // Leggy Ledgend, $10, Essie // Jeans, $35, Forever 21 // Shoes, $39, Joe Fresh

When dressing for fall it’s important to always remamber that the weather is constantly changing, whether your planning on staying indoors or out, it won’t hurt to bring along a sweater (or a plaid shirt). From finger nail to distressed jeans, it’s all in the details this fall and adding a few extra to any look will be the perfect way to tie your weekend trends together.

FASHION: Ann Taylor isn't Forever 21

It’s a pleasant surprise to see two different fashion retailers focusing on two different markets that are similar in several ways. Which ones, you ask? Forever 21 and Ann Taylor. And, that’s not facetious.

Their goal is to clothe the modern woman, through a variety of ages and shapes (though F21 skews a little younger, AT a few years older) with stylish wears that are accessible and aren’t too expensive; one goes super affordable (Forever 21) while the other just above fast fashion price points (Ann Taylor).

For fall, F21 takes a look shape and structure (in black and white), while dabbling in bright colour (a trend that’s bleeding from spring). There’s sheer and short, with a lot of layering involved. There’s no other way for a woman to dress in the unpredictable Canadian weather.

And their accessories (jewellery, bags, footwear)? The statement chain necklace, threaded with ribbons and sparkle are seen, while bags and shoes take on the studded and patent trend that’s prevalent in fashion today.

As for Ann Taylor, it’s less about bright colour and lots of white (as seen in their summer collections) and more about sombre tones for fall. Think of natty separates in navy, camel and oxblood (with the occasional print they’re known for) in nubbly textures and lace.  Silhouettes are clean and unfussy, with long lines and a lack of peplums, and their dress options allow any woman to get ready with one piece of clothing.

As for their ever-expanding line of footwear? There’s some animalesque patterned flats that put the grrr in great, and a pair of Alaia-esque heels that will fly off shelves.

Their spokesmodel for the fall is a surprise, but a welcome one (shhh, it’s a secret!). Sort of like the Forever 21 and Ann Taylor fall fashion preview.
