While many out there are donning vivid reds and pinks, I opted to go back to the basics for my Valentine’s date. Black and white is a timeless colour combination that can be worn anytime of the year.
Many believe that stripes aren’t flattering, but it really depends on the stripe thickness, colour combination and shape of the garment. Horizontal stripes do tend to exaggerate width, so you may want to avoid them in the mid-section (torso and hip area), unless you want to create curves. I opted for a crop top, which flatters the bust and draws attention upwards. The striped top was paired with a black maxi skirt with a beaded waistband, which draws attention to the narrowest point of the torso and the solid colour creates balance and add height. The look was completed with a pair of black leather booties and a filigree collar necklace.
With the right fabric and proportions, you can mix, match and experiment. Forget the “horizontal stripe” faux pas and add dimension with stripes to your wardrobe.

If you prefer something low-key you can opt for our “sweet” look, pairing printed trousers with a great knit and adding a few statement accessories – we instantly fell in love with the pearl collar necklace and metallic clutch. For those who want something sexier, we found the perfect LBD (little black dress) complete with sheer panel detailing for our “spicy” look. Instead of wearing this with bright red accessories, we decided to keep it relatively understated with oxblood accessories and the perfect amount of bling!
