#SESTYLE: Fall into Sunday Funday

After the past long and extremely hot summer we’ve had it’s nice to have a few cooler days lined up. Fall is a season filled with changes and colours for both the weather and our wardrobe. One thing I love about fall is how quickly and easily we can swap our sandals for booties and florals for plaid.

When planning your weekend wardrobe be sure to think comfy and cozy, especially if your planning on simply lounging around. When selecting your comfy weekend pieces remember not to limit yourself to sweats and hoodies, try picking out clothes that you can look good in while feeling comfy, even if your planning on spending your weekend outdoors.

When dressing for fall it’s important to always remamber that the weather is constantly changing, whether your planning on staying indoors or out, it won’t hurt to bring along a sweater (or a plaid shirt). From finger nail to distressed jeans, it’s all in the details this fall and adding a few extra to any look will be the perfect way to tie your weekend trends together.

FASHION: Make The Transition with Leggings

It’s official, fall has begun! Although these last few days have actually felt like the summer we never had, I’m not acting quick to pull out my summer wardrobe again (can we fully count on Canadian weather?). Other than fall being my absolute favourite season, we as Canadians shouldn’t get too excited because before we know it the snowflakes will be falling, probably before the leaves have finished. The constant change in weather has brought up the same question time and time again of what to wear day to night. Our solution: leggings. They are trendy, comfy and transitional, taking you from day to night so you don’t have to change with the weather, and still look great.

Wearing leggings might make you feel slightly underdressed, mainly because they are just so comfy. But you don’t have to be uncomfortable to look great, a stylish pair of leggings are perfect for a day at the office or a special night out. This goes for your shoes as well, rather than heels finish your look with a cute pair of flats, they look great and won’t cramp your style, literally. If you’re worried about those cooler afternoons and nights, bring along a blazer or scarf to warm you up as the evenings begin to get cooler.

FASHION: Conquer TIFF In Classic Comfort

September brings the beginning of fall fashion and excitement to the beautiful city of Toronto and with TIFF in full swing it’s important to dress your best, after all you never know who you may bump into on the busy star struck streets of Toronto. As a fashion and beauty editor, between running from event to event, taking photos and editing till wee hours of the night it can be quite exhausting at the end of the day. For myself, it’s all about comfort and of course black, you can never go wrong with a little black dress.

What I love most about this dress is its relaxed and comfortable fit, which makes it easy to hustle while looking polished. The white panel is a great detail that adds character to an otherwise simple piece, creating a classic black and white look that’s always a top trend.

Polyester/Spandex Dress, Joe Fresh // Statement Necklace, Cocoa Jewelry // Leather iPhone Wallet, Rudsak // Sandals, Marshalls // Spin Pins, Goody

During the hustle and bustle of TIFF, it’s important to bring along some essentials that you simply can’t leave home without. Of course as women we all love glitz and glamour but sometimes simplicity is the way to go when you know you will be taking on the city day through night. For me it’s important to always have quick and easy access to my phone, which is why I love this iPhone wallet, it’s continent and looks great styled with any outfit. Statement jewelry is a simply and stunning way to change an outfit, try adding a chunky necklace to a highlight dress or top to create an elegant and georgics look. I can’t leave home with out a spin pin in my bag, it’s the best when I need to do a quick hair change and want more then just a ponytail. They are so simple to use and look great. It’s true, nothing looks better then a woman in heels, but sometimes a girl just has to think comfort and wear flats. Try pairing your outfit or outfit with an open sandal, it will look great and definitely pay off the next day.

#WMCFW Fall/Winter 2014: Day 3, Joe Fresh

With this never ending winter Joe Fresh is gearing up for Fall/Winter 2014 and getting ready for the cold, if it’s anything like these past few Canadian months these parkas and toques are sure to come in handy next season too.

The collection was inspired by outerwear that moves coolly from city to wide-open spaces, transporting the senses to a place of nature and freedom. The pieces incorporated faux fur, oversized parkas and the signature Joe Fresh quilted nylon, creating a fresh new look with a familiar feel. The designs were created with warmth in mind using fabrics such as boiled wool, cavalry twill and knitwear all coming together finishing the looks and making then not only look warm but feel warm too.

Although the collection was different and focused mainly on outerwear, designer Joe Mimran didn’t steer too far from his roots of classic fit and textile dress shirts and trousers, each piece tied in perfectly with one another, showing how simplicity is always in style and yes, you can dress up a parka while still looking fabulous.

TEST DRIVE: Master Hi-Light & Master Glaze by Maybelline

Product: Master Hi-Light by Maybelline, $8.99

Where to Buy: Shoppers Drug Mart, Target, Loblaws and other retail stores.

It’s Claim: Light boosting blush and bronzer palette has an expert balance of 4 shades + shimmer for a natural glow.

How to Use: Blend all 4 shades together or use each one individually for multi use while on the go. Use the shimmer shades for an increased highlighting effect under brow bones and darker shades below cheekbones for additional contouring and definition. Gently sweep over anywhere light naturally touches the face for a fresh, vibrant glow.

Our Thoughts: The balance of the shimmers and the bronzers create a perfectly even and glowing complexion for naturally-looking colour and illumination. Master Hi-Light opens the way for creativity by being able to use it as more then just a bronzer. The texture is light weight and soft, allowing the product to apply easily and smoothly using either a bronzer brush all over or a blush brush on the cheek bones. Try using the shades individually as an eye shadow pallet or use the darker shades as a brow filler. The Hi-Light Bronzer is my personal favourite because it’s great for on-the-go touch ups with its built in mirror and mini brush.
