After the past long and extremely hot summer we’ve had it’s nice to have a few cooler days lined up. Fall is a season filled with changes and colours for both the weather and our wardrobe. One thing I love about fall is how quickly and easily we can swap our sandals for booties and florals for plaid.
When planning your weekend wardrobe be sure to think comfy and cozy, especially if your planning on simply lounging around. When selecting your comfy weekend pieces remember not to limit yourself to sweats and hoodies, try picking out clothes that you can look good in while feeling comfy, even if your planning on spending your weekend outdoors.
Tshirt, $10, Joe Fresh // Plaid Shirt, $15, Hudson’s Bay // Sunglasses, $145, Ray Bans // Colour Blur Lip Stick, $10, Maybelline // Leggy Ledgend, $10, Essie // Jeans, $35, Forever 21 // Shoes, $39, Joe Fresh
When dressing for fall it’s important to always remamber that the weather is constantly changing, whether your planning on staying indoors or out, it won’t hurt to bring along a sweater (or a plaid shirt). From finger nail to distressed jeans, it’s all in the details this fall and adding a few extra to any look will be the perfect way to tie your weekend trends together.

When your doing a handful of cities in just a few weeks it’s so important to pack accordingly, this means only pack the essentials. For myself, I always think of packing light so I can shop heavy because there are always a few more essentials you simply can’t leave your vacation without.
When packing light it’s important to always ask yourself a few very important questions like “do I really need it” and “how many ways can I wear it”. Try packing clothes that are easy-to-wear and extremely versatile, sometimes less really can be more when you’re creative enough to find a few ways to style them. When it comes to your shoes make sure to pack for comfort, especially when your travels include a lot of walking and wandering across the city. Bring along shoes that you know you will wear more then once and that pair great with almost everything, comfy shoes will make for a much better trip.
Once your clothes and shoes are all packed up it’s time for the not so easy part of packing, picking out which beauty essentials to bring. Bringing makeup that is light, easy to apply and long lasting is always the best when going somewhere hot, especially after applying your SPF. I love wearing minimal makeup when I’m away, forget your foundation at home and pack a peachy blush that will bring out your natural glow and don’t forget your brows. I can’t leave home, or country without grooming my brows, I always find that a well groomed brow is all you need to feel polished. To keep your lock looking luck try using a frizz control shampoo and conditioner and replace your hairspray for seasalt spray for a more naturally tasseled look. Lastly, your lips, rather then worrying about applying lipstick try finding a gloss or lip stain that you love, they are easy to apply and great for traveling.
You can’t forget to pack your camera, sure, the iPhone takes great pictures but there’s something about a DSLR that makes photos seem so real, especially when you are seeing some of the most beautiful sights in the world. Invest in a great camera and take it with you everywhere you go because when you get home you will want to look at your photos over and over again. When traveling I can’t leave my hotel without a portable charger, it’s extremely useful for a quick charge on all of your devices and is small enough to toss in your purse.
The obvious travel essential items are always your headphones, a neck pillow and of course a warm pair of socks, but what about the snacks and jet leg remedies that will make your landing that much better. Pack snacks that are great for on-the-go and will hold you off until your next inflight meal that never really fills you up. Try beating your jet leg before you land with the ultimate travel kit that helps you arrive looking and feeling fabulous with a simple mist. These inflight essentials will make for a much cozier flight.
Packing can sometimes be the hardest part about traveling, which is why it’s important to take your time and pack what you know you will wear and use. Remember to enjoy every moment and make memories that will last forever, and don’t forget to leave yourself a little extra room in your luggage because after all we’re women and we’re on vacation, of course we’re going to spend and shop!

The end of Fashion Week always seems to be bitter sweet for me, whether it’s missing the people, the hustle or simply just having my days filled with everything fashion and beauty, there has yet to be a season that I don’t miss. Looking back on last week we saw many shows, hair styles, nail designs and makeup looks that will have us begging for fall/winter 2015, but let’s not get too ahead of ourselves just yet, we still have spring/summer to enjoy.
Here’s a look back on what we loved most during World MasterCard Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2015, from the runway to backstage we are excited to share with you exactly what we were chatting about last week.
REDKEN Canada showed us many different hair looks throughout the week, but there was one common trend that we saw popping up in many of the shows, braids. This Fall/Winter 2015 is all about the braids and who doesn’t love a good braid, they are easy to do and always look great both on and off the runway. I got a chance to have one of REDKENS elite hair stylists recreate the braid look from David Dixon’s runway show, it looked great and is a look that’s it easy to do at home.
MAYBELLINE Canada always surprises us every season with new make up trends and products that are absolute must try’s. This season it was all about that perfect highlight using Face Studio Master Prime, the soft pink created a natural and flawless glow that made each model simply shimmer with beauty. The Mikhael Kale beauty look was all the rave with the stunning pop of colour in the inner corners of the eye using the Colour Sensational Vivids Lip Colour, making it a great way to get even more use out of your everyday favourite products.
Be sure to let us know your faviorite looks, trends and styles from the Fall/Winter 2015 World MasterCard Fashion Week shows using #StyleEmpire #StyleEmpireXWMCFW @StyleEmpireMag @Stylempire.

As day five of World MasterCard Fashion Week comes to a close we are absolutely amazed and breath taken by the outstanding runway show by Mikael D. The collection was Asian inspired which was brought out through the hair stylings of REDKEN Canada’s lead stylist, Jorge Joao and geisha red lip by MAYBELLINE Canada’s lead artist, Grace Lee.
The collection incorporated red, black, gold and white as each piece walked the red runway showing off a collection of different designs from long gowns to pant suits, and patterns to embroidery. Mikael D is always a pleasure to have as the final show of fashion week a he always finds a way to leave us breathless and this collection did just that with the structure and close attention to detail in every look. The lace detailing held together by a delicate and silky mesh was so fine that it look as though each model had been painted with lace.
The show could not have ended more flawlessly when a stunning white ball gown made its way onto the runway capturing the attention of everyone in the room. The dress was filled with delicate white flowers that fluttered as it went by making it the piece of the week and leaving fashion lovers absolutely speechless.
With the delicate detailing and perfect fit in each piece it’s no wonder Mikale D is known as Canadian Couture, each piece is a perfect fit and each collection brings a certain flair of elegance to the runway season after season.

World MasterCard Fashion Week kicked off day one with a unique runway show by Mikhael Kale that brought a mix of colourful and shimmery looks. From textiles to embroidery and layering to patterns, the collection brought a stunning and unique look to day one, having fashion and beauty lovers turning heads and not only were the pieces unique and different, the runway was too.
The runway set up was sure to have people turning heads and capturing great shots as the models made their way off the runway and through the rows, creating a more interacting and fun way for Mikhael Kale to show off the intricate detailing in each and every one of his pieces.
Being a very detail oriented person there were so many that I absolutely fell in love with in the collection. The removable white collar was a great detail that can be added onto any blouse or t-shirt, I found it to be a great detail that was paired with a number of pieces in the collection. The colours in the show were absolutely jaw dropping getting us ready for warmer weather and more colourful fashion options. It is still important to add a little colour to a fall/winter collection, especially with our Canadian winters being so long sometimes a little colour goes a long way.
