Day two of World MasterCard Fashion Week brought a fashionable and completely wearable feel to the runway. There’s something about the crisp white runway and bright lights that make each piece look absolutely stunning. It’s always is refreshing seeing pieces that can be worn right off the runway and become the newest piece in your wardrobe.
Melissa Nepton brought a classic and wearable collection that was filled with pastel colours, grey, black and white, creating a collection of pieces that will have you thinking Spring before the last snow fall. Each look made its way down the runway with a classy and sophisticated feel from top to bottom. From wool dresses to peplum pants, Nepton pushed the limits creating a collection that was sure to be talked about all week long. With her inspiration being a winter warrior it’s no doubt that all women will be ready to take on the ice, snow and whatever our outrageous Canadian winters plan on throwing your way.
During the cooler months there are some pieces that every girl simply can’t go without, whether it be a wool coat or textured trousers the collection managed to squeeze it all into one fabulous assembly of exactly what women want to stay warm and look good. Winter is long enough as it is, why bother making it feel even longer with clothing that we don’t love!

Our editors are backstage of World MasterFashion Week chatting with Rita Remark, Essie Canada Lead Nail Artist getting you the inside scoop on all that is Essie. Here’s what happened backstage on day one and two.
With inspirations being taken from the past, Mikhael Kale wanted more of a subtle and nude look, but when your on the runway it’s all about that eye-catching effect and with a combination of Essie Sand Tropez and Blanc a pale chiffon effect was born.
Sometimes a little goes a long away, and sometimes the littlest of details have the biggest of meanings. Pink Tartan may have had a soft and simple looking nail but when really paying attention to detail you will see that the pinky nails were the start of the Essie show using Inspired by Japanese and Tibetan culture, this nail look was on point what it came to symbolization. With one hands symbol meaning “Goddess” and the others meaning “God” these women are sure to out on a fierce show in a strong collection.
On day two we saw a more bold approach when it came to the nails. Melissa Nepton was inspired by a romantic winter warrior and influences by Asian culture, the collection was very textured with heavy wools and light silks. The Nepton nail was created using After School Boy Blazer and No Place Like Chrome To create a look that reflected different textures by creating a quarter moon nail look.

Melissa Nepton’s Spring/Summer 2015 collection is all about staying fresh and fun. The look was pretty and dainty, from dressed to shorts, the collection looked soft and fresh as it made its way down the runway.
The pieces are not only stunning, they are also wearable for both day and night during the warmer months. The colour pallet was very similar to the colour trends we have been seeing on the runway for SS15 with pale pink, blue and lots of white.
Melissa Nepton used a lot of sheer textiles in the pieces, drawing the attention to the beauty and simplicity of the pieces showing that less is always more. Nepton also incorporated netting into the pieces, a trend that we have seen a few times on the runway this week.
The detailing in each piece definitely caught the attention of every fashion lover, from the open back blouses to the drop waist dresses, each piece was absolutely stunning both on and off the runway.

Day 2 of World MasterCard Fashion Week was about picking one feature and focussing on it. We are seeing a lot of strong brows, big lashes and red lips this season, creating a more natural and fun look on the runway with both the hair and the makeup.
Elan & Castor was all about giving the girls a very 60s feel without a lot of liner. The look was more about that baby doll face without the dramatic look that liner can sometimes create. False lashed were used on both the upper and lower lashes, creating a more full and pretty eye. The brows were left clear to create a more natural look using Brow Drama.
Quick Tip from Grace Lee: For a more natural looking brow try taking a lot of product off the Brow Drama brush. This will create more of a coat on the lashes without making them look too perfect.
Melissa Nepton brought a fresh and clean look to the runway both in the collection and in the beauty look. She wanted the girls to look very fresh with a little bit of an edge. The focus was on the brows using Brow Drama and Master Shape Brow Pencil. The brows were brushes through and filled creating a fuller brow for a more dramatic and edgy look. The skin was left fresh looking with a light layer of mascara on the top and bottom lashes and the lips were a soft nude that didn’t look too done up and perfect. For the hair we are seeing a little bit of grudge that complements that strong brow. Jorge Joao, lead stylist, tells us that Nepton really wanted the hair to have that lived in feel with a little bit of edge that hair naturally gets on that second day wear.
Quick Tip from Grace Lee: For an ultra cool lip try pressing the lipstick on using your finger. This will eliminate that perfectly lined lip and look more natural.

As World MasterCard Toronto Fashion week moves in to day two, the designers we have highest expectations for have really begun to give us a sense of what will be trending this Fall/Winter in the world of fashion. Melilissa Nepton kept the industry’s theme going with her collection, though of course, her undeniable fingerprint was on each ensemble. Models donned slicked back, almost wet looking hair that played wonderfully off of the shimmery trend throughout the collection. All-gold-everything is certainly going to ripple throughout the fashion world with Nepton leading the pack through her playfully hued collection. Fashion Weeks across the world have seen the resurgence of the classic sneaker on runways, and Nepton’s cosmopolitan choice to play along will bring the vision to us here in Toronto. Fur accessories were amongst Nepton’s most unique addition to the styling we’ve seen so far, as well as larger than life scarves that make us feel like the collection certainly must have been made with Canadian girls in mind.
