Our editors are backstage of World MasterFashion Week chatting with Rita Remark, Essie Canada Lead Nail Artist getting you the inside scoop on all that is Essie. Here’s what happened backstage on day one and two.
With inspirations being taken from the past, Mikhael Kale wanted more of a subtle and nude look, but when your on the runway it’s all about that eye-catching effect and with a combination of Essie Sand Tropez and Blanc a pale chiffon effect was born.
Sometimes a little goes a long away, and sometimes the littlest of details have the biggest of meanings. Pink Tartan may have had a soft and simple looking nail but when really paying attention to detail you will see that the pinky nails were the start of the Essie show using Inspired by Japanese and Tibetan culture, this nail look was on point what it came to symbolization. With one hands symbol meaning “Goddess” and the others meaning “God” these women are sure to out on a fierce show in a strong collection.
On day two we saw a more bold approach when it came to the nails. Melissa Nepton was inspired by a romantic winter warrior and influences by Asian culture, the collection was very textured with heavy wools and light silks. The Nepton nail was created using After School Boy Blazer and No Place Like Chrome To create a look that reflected different textures by creating a quarter moon nail look.

World MasterCard Fashion Week kicked off day one with a unique runway show by Mikhael Kale that brought a mix of colourful and shimmery looks. From textiles to embroidery and layering to patterns, the collection brought a stunning and unique look to day one, having fashion and beauty lovers turning heads and not only were the pieces unique and different, the runway was too.
The runway set up was sure to have people turning heads and capturing great shots as the models made their way off the runway and through the rows, creating a more interacting and fun way for Mikhael Kale to show off the intricate detailing in each and every one of his pieces.
Being a very detail oriented person there were so many that I absolutely fell in love with in the collection. The removable white collar was a great detail that can be added onto any blouse or t-shirt, I found it to be a great detail that was paired with a number of pieces in the collection. The colours in the show were absolutely jaw dropping getting us ready for warmer weather and more colourful fashion options. It is still important to add a little colour to a fall/winter collection, especially with our Canadian winters being so long sometimes a little colour goes a long way.

The collection is filled with pieces that show off edge and attitude in looks that are decked out from top to bottom in studding and leather. For the more feminine women Mikhael Kale incorporates pattern, colour and texture creating pieces that are filled with dimension and structure.
The pieces have an overall look that is inspired by folded origami and designed using the textiles to create this dimension, keeping in feminine with an edgy and unique flare for Fall/Winter 2014.

As the World MasterCard Fashion week in Toronto entered its second day, those who love lavish continued to be
spoiled by top talent unveiling their latest visions. Mikhael Kale took an intimate approach during his Spring/Summer 2013 launch by treating his audience to an up, close and personal showcase of fashion. Models stood frozen and suspended over their audience in glistening and bright makeup, sensual sequined gowns, and to everyone’s surprise – Nike running shoes! Kale’s Spring/Summer 2013 line is jovial with a tasteful, youth-inspired feel. Hues blend like watercolours in dreamy jewel tones: purple, blue, green, and earthy silvers. Sheer layers of lace lay on material of the same colour, tricking the eye. His newest work is a sexy testament to the kid in all of us. This spring Mikhael Kale wants us to have fun with fashion.
