Scents can trigger some of the strongest emotions and memories. So imagine a collaboration between beauty brand, L’Occitane, and famous pastry chef, Pierre Hermé. Although Hermé is best known for delectable pastries and flavourful macarons, this collaboration of complex scents is nothing short of memorable.
At first glance, you may not see the connection but Pierre Hermé and Olivier Baussan, the founder of L’Occitane, have been friends for over 20 years. They both revel in the sensory world and share a love of fine, authentic ingredients. While Baussan designed the packaging for this collection, Hermé was responsible for creating two powerful scents bringing unique and unexpected ingredients together.
The two new scents are Jasmin-Immortelle-Neroli and Grapefruit-Rhubarb. With inspiration from Corsica (their favourite island in the South of France) and the Immortelle flower, this limited edition collection brings together unique aromas that contrast yet complement each other perfectly. The result is a collection of beautifully crafted scents that awaken the senses.
While these may not be the typical fall fragrances, this collection is truly a breath of fresh air. Both scents come in a wide range of products including perfume, body milk, lip balm, soap and hand cream. Whether you want to treat yourself or someone else (after all, the holidays are right around the corner), the L’Occitane and Pierre Hermé collection will surely transport your senses to the beauty of the Mediterranean.

Somewhere between Summerlicious and Winterlicious is Beautylicious, Bloor-Yorkville’s answer to all of your beauty needs. Between October 22nd and November 1st, Yorkville will be host to the only event of its kind in Canada, offering an array of services at $30, $50, $75 and $125.
I recently booked myself an appointment at The Spa at The Windsor Arms Hotel, located at 18 St. Thomas Street. I decided on the $75 offering (a $125 value) featuring a Tangerine Body Wrap with full body exfoliation, mask and wrap. With Toronto Fashion Week kicking off next week, it was the perfect way to relax before the chaos – my calm before the storm.
I love The Spa at The Windsor Arms Hotel. The second you step through the doors, you feel calm and at ease. After a quick tour of the spa (which includes a salt water pool, panoramic outdoor terrace, and even a salt cave), I was changed and ready for my treatment.
The treatment began with a full body exfoliation to slough off the dead skin. For citrus lovers, the smell of the tangerine body scrub is just divine. Once the full body exfoliation is complete, a heated blanket is wrapped around the body to allow the pores to open up. You’re then left to relax for about 20 minutes. The body wrap feels like a warm cocoon, ideal for those chilly autumn days. Once the wrap is complete, you hop in a shower to rinse all of the product off. Finally, a light moisturizer is applied, leaving your entire body smooth and silky. Like most treatments, this one is done almost in the nude (with a disposable thong) and takes about an hour. It is the perfect way to recharge or spend the day with a friend or loved one – did we mention that The Windsor Arms Hotel also offers high tea?
We all need a little TLC from time to time. Whether you want some alone time or a spa day with the girls, thanks to Beautylicious, you can experience hair, spa, skin and health and wellness (for both women and men) at amazing prices. With over 50 participants, it’ll be easy to find something to fit both your budget and your grooming/polishing needs.

Summer is all about patio-parties. I’m often the one to host a backyard bash but one isn’t complete without good company and good tunes.
I recently fell in love with the Stellé Audio Pillar. It is the perfect union of music, design and technology, and is ideal for the home – indoors or out. It features easy-to-use controls, a 15-hour rechargeable battery and speakerphone capabilities for hands-free calls. Aside from stunning sound quality, I also love its sleek and simple design. It’s a great addition to any space and I can’t wait to blast the tunes at my next outdoor BBQ.

No matter the season, soft and supple skin are always in. As the body’s largest organ, it can easily be neglected but a little TLC will go a long way. Here are a few of our favourite products to keep your skin glowing from day to night!
Whether it’s bikini season or you just want soft skin, exfoliating is an important part of skin care. I generally exfoliate once or twice a week with a gentle scrub to help slough away dead skin cells. One of my favourite exfoliants is gentle enough for daily use and is made with orange peel, argan oil, Vitamin E and almond oil.
Body Buff in Fleur D’Oranger, Moroccanoil.
The recipe for smooth summer legs is easier than you think. Start with exfoliating your legs and then follow with the a shave gel that features a moisture-rich formula with the addition of Moroccan Oil (not to mention, Vitamin E, Olive Butter and Sunflower Seed Oil) and a 2-in-1 razor and trimmer. Moroccan Oil does wonders for your skin. It comes from the argan nut and offers anti-oxidants to prevent and repair skin damage, and it doesn’t clog pores so it’s ideal for shaving. We’re also constantly on the look out for products that do double duty, so a razor that combines five blades for the closest shave (and less skin irritation) with a waterproof bikini trimmer is great for taking care of the leg and bikini area.
Skin Therapy Silky Skin Shave Gel, Skintimate.
Hydro Silk TrimStyle Razor, Schick.
After the shower (but before we dried off!), we used a wet skin moisturizer infused with coconut oil that allows you to begin the moisturizing process while your pores are still open. This reduces the time it takes to get ready (by 1/2) and prevents any residue from remaining on your skin, while also ensuring that your skin is fully hydrated.
Moisturizer for Wet Skin, Jergens.
I love the feeling of smooth skin – but it doesn’t come naturally. When I don’t take care of it, I often resemble a scaly reptile. This season, I’ve found my favourite skin care products and I’m using them religiously. Whether you’re strutting around in a miniskirt or hitting the beach in a two-piece, let’s bask in the sunshine and get ready to show off some skin.
