Coordinating your nails with your outfit is always a great fashion and beauty combo, it adds a little extra detail to your look keeping you looking polished and well put together. Now, how about pairing your nail colour with your very special day. If you have been dreaming about your wedding day since you were 10 years old the chances are you have also been rehearsing the classic must haves too. Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.
Well, here’s the thing Something Old is an easy one, and if your borrowing it from your mother or grandmother you have officially just checked 2 out of 4 on your list, Something Old and Borrowed. Something New can be many different pieces from your dress to your shoes or a headpiece to a veil, its not hard to have something new on your wedding day. But, here’s the kicker, finding that special Something Blue and it really can be anything that is significant to you like blue flowers in your hair, a blue garter belt or my personal must have to complete any look, blue nail polish!

A fun shade of baby blue is always a great hint of colour that can be added into any look so why not on your wedding day. Finger nails or toes, this colour will defiantly shoe guests that you’ve thought of it all while sticking to your obsession of having your nails always on point!

Giving back is always a great way to show your love and appreciation to the world we live in. With so much happening in the world around us it’s hard to keep track of everyone in need of protection. TOMS always finds a way to bring awareness to so many different partnerships with their the One for One programs.
This past fall TOMS announced their partnership with the National Geographic Big Cats Collection, as a cat lover the choice to support this great program came easy as I began to read some of the recent statistics of Big Cats in the wild that are disappearing in the world around us. The National Geographic’s Big Cats Initiative has worked to reverse the decline through on-the-ground conversation and educational projects in Africa, Asia, North and South America.
Nat Geo Leopard Noah, $189, toms.ca
Nat Geo Women’s Jaguar Classics, $70, toms.ca
Nat Geo Men’s Lion Paseos, $75, toms.ca
Nat Geo Big Cats Backpack, $108, toms.ca
The TOMS and National Geographic Big Cats Collection features a special edition line of footwear, sunglasses and backpacks for men, women and children ranging from $38 to $168 CAD. The collection features design elements representing big cats as well as iconic photography from the National Geographic’s image library. The TOMS One for One Animal Initiative program will drive awareness and funding for global animal protection for Big Cats and with our support and awareness we can come together to help minimize the dangers that Big Cats are facing in the wild.

I love to shop. But the one thing I love more than shopping itself, is scoring a good deal. As I’m sure everyone knows, there are two days where the sales are huge: Boxing Day and Black Friday. Although the latter may be borrowed from our American friends down south, we aren’t going to let them have all of the fun. We’ve partnered with Yorkdale this Black Friday to get you the latest style scoop and you could win a $50 gift card!
On November 28th, Yorkdale Shopping Centre is launching its full suite of services just in time to for the busy holiday season! This includes special shopping hours (7:00am-9:30pm on Black Friday and holiday hours will begin on Monday, November 17), Dine on 3 reservations, and the best part, the first 100 guests at Yorkdale will receive a $50 gift card (you can also win one below!). Here are a few of our favourite trends and some of the stores we will be visiting.
Forget the blacks and greys, brighten up your wardrobe with a bold punch of colour. Whether it be a belted trench, oversized cocoon coat or wrap coat, these colourful coats are sure to keep you warm all season long.
Yellow Trench, $1995, Burberry London at Holt Renfrew. Pink 3/4 Sleeve Coat, $795, Pink Tartan at Holt Renfrew. Oversized Mohair Coat, $170, Topshop at The Bay. Deep Pink Wrap Coat, $525, Ted Baker.
We may not be in the highlands but this season we’re seeing plaid everywhere. Whether it’s Buffalo Check, Tartan or Black Watch, plaid can be spotted on coats, tops, pants and accessories. You can opt for just one statement piece or mix-and-match a few.
Wool Blend Coat, $325, Wilfred at Aritzia. Red Acrylic Scarf, $90, Ted Baker. Twill and Leather Purse, $398, Kate Spade. White Plaid Blouse, $29, H&M. Black Leather Pumps with Oxblood Heel, $90, ALDO. Buffalo Check Pants, $305, Rag & Bone at Holt Renfrew.
We’re paying homage to the soldiers and taking charge with military style – without the uniform. Statement pieces combined with bold hardware create a polished utilitarian look to ensure that you’re armed and ready for the season ahead.
Oversized Chain Necklace, $340, All Saints. Leather Phone Case with Chain Strap, $60, Rudsak. Quilted Leather Jacket, $599, Danier. Knee-high Leather Boots, $395, Rudsak.
While you’re holiday shopping, you might need a quick break. You might even want to drop your coat and bags off. To recharge, just download the Yorkdale App to reserve a table in Dine on 3. Free fruit-infused water and magazines also occupy the third-level food collection, which features 19 restaurants, including four of which are fully-licensed with table service. If your bags get heavy, you’ll want to swing by the RBC Avion Holiday Boutique where you can forget about lugging your coat and bags around. Here you can find coat and parcel check, a concierge service and a VIP Lounge and Café. On Black Friday, shoppers will also receive free gift wrapping for up to three packages. Throughout the holidays, the RBC Avion Holiday Boutique services are complimentary for all RBC Avion cardholders and are available to the public for a donation to charity.
November signals the start of the holiday shopping season, especially with Black Friday on November 28th. Bye bye summer heat, hello cool autumn air! I’ll take the crisp air over humidity any day, but it does make it quite a feat to get out of bed in the mornings. I’ve found the solution: oversized knitwear. It’s comfy, it’s cozy and if you find the right pieces, they can wrap you up in warmth all day.
So it might not be time for the oversized wool sweater – yet. But with the chilly evenings, I’m breaking out the oversized scarf. Knitwear, whether it be a cardigan, sweater, scarf or toque, is a cold weather staple. This scarf is one of my absolute favourites because it is gigantic and versatile. You can wrap it up as a poncho, belt it like a cardigan or wear it as I did, just as a scarf. Knits are great for layering and can be teamed up with almost anything (try denim or leather for a contrast in textures). This fall, it’s pretty safe to say that when the mercury drops, oversized comfort is in.

Summer isn’t over yet! Not in my mind anyway, I’m clinging on to the warm weather we’ve had with hopes that it will continue through September (a girl can dream can’t she?). My go-to during the warm days and breezy nights are culottes.
Culottes, gauchos, whatever you want to call them, I’m loving them. These wide-leg, knee-length pants may be dreaded by most but they’re actually quite easy to wear. I grabbed my first pair in Europe earlier this year and now I’m hooked.
Since culottes have a wider leg, I prefer to balance them with less volume up top. As for the shoes, I’ve worn my culottes with flats before but a heel is definitely more flattering as it will give you more height. My favourite aspect of the culotte is the versatility and how you can easily transition from weekday to weekend. For work, tuck in a fitted dress shirt and pair them with pumps. For a barbecue, opt for flats and a comfy crop top. They can be worn just about anywhere and now I’m obsessed.
