Elisa Dahan and Eran Elfassy, creative directors of the coveted brand Mackage, are the only team in the world that could possibly make me look forward to winter. The thought of repeating the horrifying freeze Toronto just went through is completely unbearable with one strict exception. I was introduced that one-off miracle at World Mastercard Fashion Week, day 3. The only way to face Jack Frost again is draped in Mackage’s Fall/Winter 2015 line. Whip him away with Mackage’s long leather tassels, melt him with their deep red hues, and cast him out in from behind their dramatic, opulent furs.
Mackage for Fall/Winter 2015 is preparing wearers for stylish, outdoor winter fun (albeit more for those who prefer the chalet to the slopes). Quilted snow pants with draped suspenders for him, and asymmetrical leather skirts under fur lined bombers for her. Paired with the classically gorgeous leather accessories, whether backpacks or purses are your style, there’s no way you can go wrong in Mackage this winter.

Day two of World MasterCard Fashion Week brought a fashionable and completely wearable feel to the runway. There’s something about the crisp white runway and bright lights that make each piece look absolutely stunning. It’s always is refreshing seeing pieces that can be worn right off the runway and become the newest piece in your wardrobe.
Melissa Nepton brought a classic and wearable collection that was filled with pastel colours, grey, black and white, creating a collection of pieces that will have you thinking Spring before the last snow fall. Each look made its way down the runway with a classy and sophisticated feel from top to bottom. From wool dresses to peplum pants, Nepton pushed the limits creating a collection that was sure to be talked about all week long. With her inspiration being a winter warrior it’s no doubt that all women will be ready to take on the ice, snow and whatever our outrageous Canadian winters plan on throwing your way.
During the cooler months there are some pieces that every girl simply can’t go without, whether it be a wool coat or textured trousers the collection managed to squeeze it all into one fabulous assembly of exactly what women want to stay warm and look good. Winter is long enough as it is, why bother making it feel even longer with clothing that we don’t love!

Few designers at World Mastercard Fashion Week exemplify the same dedication to shaping Canadian fashion that’s evident in through the legacy of David Dixon. After twenty years in the business, Dixon has risen to the top of the Canadian fashion industry; even bringing the likes of Toronto’s mayor John Tory to line the runway for a glimpse at his newest creations. The debut of Dixon’s Fall/Winter 2015 collection is the ultimate testament to this fact to his dedication. Tuesday evening marked his 20th year in the industry marking this collection a landmark 40th.
The collection is as youthful and current as ever, with striking accessories like thick chokers made of beads and chains, rings that link with wrist cuffs while cascading chains over the hands, and a nod to gothic 90s style with each model sporting pitch black nail polish. Cage sandal shoes provided a nice, light balance to the heavy structuring characteristic of the collection’s garments: like the bold shoulder created by free flying fur shawls or the dramatic leather waist-pinching panels. Strong brows and flushed red lips brought even more power to the overall energy of the femme fatale vibe of the collection. It was the perfect compliment to a Fall/Winter line for the bold and courageous woman with a flair for the fashion-dramatic, but on her own terms.

Matthew Gallagher is always a must see during World MasterCard Fashion week, from perfect fit to unique designs, Gallagher never disappoints fashion lovers. The collection Spring/Summer 2015 was inspired by the season itself as a new start and new beginnings.
The inspiration of the seasons were brought out through mixing more subdued green mossy colours with bright bubble gum pinks, creating a mix in nature. Each piece showed off that perfect fit as they made their way down the runway, creating a flawless and breathtaking collection of pieces that can be worn again and again. These timeless pieces show off the beauty in a women, complementing each women’s shape without having to be body conscious.
The clean line and hand stitch detailing in the pieces created stunning movement and sparkle down the runway that named the collection both breathtaking and outstanding. Gallagher’s close attention to detail is exactly what makes this designer a top runway show season after season.
