BEAUTY: Thank you, Yes To

It isn’t every day that hands get dirty while previewing a new line of skincare products at the Toronto Botanical Gardens. But, when it comes to Yes To, it’s all about being green (even if it means having a little bit of dirt under clean fingernails).

For those not in the know, Yes To is a cruelty-free line of skincare products that is 95-99 per cent natural and free of parabens, phthalates, SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate) and petroleum. As an added benefit, the company also donates a portion of their sales to the Yes To Seed Fund, a non-profit which makes a difference in people’s lives through sustainable agriculture.

Their three lines – Yes To Carrots (nourishing), Yes To Cucumbers (soothing), Yes To Blueberries (age refreshing) – deliver results for those with different skin and hair needs. And in September, there will be a few welcome additions to the fruitful ra

nge.

Three new products will be added to the Yes To Blueberries line (Softening Facial Exfoliator, Rejuvenating Body Lotion, Line Reducing Lip Treatment), and the introduction of Yes To Tomatoes (The Oil Control Gel Cleanser, Daily Pore Scrub, Repairing Lotion, Blemish Clearing Facial Towelettes, and Roller Ball Spot Stick) will cater to those with acne issues.

Available at Shoppers Drug Mart and Pharmaprix, Yes To Tomatoes is made with lycopene (a powerful antioxidant found in tomatoes) and salicylic acid (helps skin cells shed and prevents pores from becoming clogged) which produces greater cell turnover and, in turn, less breakouts and blackheads.

On top of that, most products lie within $9 and $12 (with only a few hitting the $20 mark). After looking at recent grocery bills, it’s probably cheaper to buy Yes To products than eating fruits and vegetables to get better skin.
